Pennants news – Men

Update on the Kortum Shield played Sunday, 4/3/18, at Leura.

Leura defeated Wentworth Falls 1’s 3-0. Carl Jennings and Walter Hodgetts had an emphatic 5 and 4 win, Steve York and Matt Robinson were a bit more cagey, but mostly in control to win 3 and 2, and Alec Stillmark and Phil Noble choose to leave it late to win 1 up on the last. A great result, with everybody playing their part, but special mention to Alec and Walter, for filling in, and fitting in so well.

Final standings are below.

Kortum Shield final was played at Blackheath on 18 March between Leura and Wentworth Falls 2.

The Kortum Shield has been run and won for the 2018 season and congratulations are in order for the Wentworth Falls 2 team. On a hot and blustery day at Blackheath they defeated Leura 3-0. The win may seem emphatic, but two matches were decided on the last hole, and the third pairing had numerous opportunities that went begging and as we all know too well, golf is a game of centimetres, and taken chances.

That said Wentworth Falls were better on the day, and all credit to them. A big thank you to the conveners, the host clubs, the opposition teams, and all the Leura team, be it the core players, those who filled in at times, or those who put their names down but weren’t called upon. Everybody represented the Leura Golf Club in a friendly and positive light, and all games were played in a good sporting nature.

Phil Noble.
Seniors final to be played at Blackheath on 8 April at 12 noon between Leura and Lithgow.
