Pennants 2023

The Pennant season starts on January 29 (Sunday at Lithgow) and is on each Sunday in February.

Leura will host on the 12th of February.

The Teams:
Senior Pennant: Team of 4 players with handicaps as low as possible as this is “Scratch” Matchplay.

A-Reserve: Team of 4 or 5 players with handicaps up to 12. If over 12 handicap you have to play off 12. Only half of the handicap difference is given as a stroke allowance in each match. The team is put forward in exact handicap order.

Masters: Team of 6 players. The team is put forward in exact handicap order. Played with ¾ stroke allowance regarding the difference between competitors in each match.

Kortum Shield: Team of 6 players. Lowest handicap allowed is 13 (daily playing handicap) and played as a 2BBB Matchplay. If a player’s handicap drops below 13 in the pennant season they are required to give a shot, within their match, based on the standard matchplay index.

Matches don’t go beyond the 18th hole unless it is a final to determine the winning club for the Pennant.

PENNANT RESULTS – UPDATE AFTER ROUND FIVE AT OBERON
26TH MARCH 2023

SENIORS

LITHGOW HAS WON THE SENIOR PENNANT FOR 2023

A RESERVES

Leura needed to win the day to ensure a play off with Blackheath. Anything less than a win for Leura meant that Blackheath would take the title.

By the 18th hole, Leura went up 2 matches to 1. The last match was all square coming up the last. Both Jesse and Hamish hit good drives. Jesse was first to hit and his shot into the green saw it pitch just a few feet from the pin and then spin back. Hamish over-clubbed and ended at the back of the 18th up the slope. A difficult chip saw him end a fair distance away from the hole but certainly was not out of it. Jesse’s birdie putt just missed, and it was all up to Hamish. If he got the putt then his match would be squared and Leura would win the day and enter the final. It looked good all the way but then hit the edge of the cup, horseshoed around and sat agonizingly on the lip. Jesse won and the overall match was tied.

This meant the A Reserves pennant would go to Blackheath.
